Hey everyone, If you've been to our website before you'll now notice an entirely new look and better layout. If you haven't been here before, then welcome! I took my own advice and just finished rehabbing the site - I hope you like it. Remember, change can be a good thing!

We live in a fast paced world where things happen very quickly. We have instant access to news, weather, sports and most information in general. We can get from point A to point B faster than ever. We have become accustomed to getting what we want when we want it or need it..
Obviously, this doesn't hold true for everything (try getting something from the government). Some things just take time. Unfortunately, we have little patience today. Ok, I'll get off my soapbox and get to the point.
New websites take time to become relevant to search engines. When I design and implement a website for a client, I explain to them the process involved in getting the site to rank highly in search engine results. I give them a very loose time frame when they might start actually seeing their website in the top twenty pages of a specific search engine. At first, they don't really understand why it would take so long and why the site wouldn't be on page one of the search results right from the get-go.
They don't yet understand that they are competing with (possibly) millions of other websites, or at least millions of web pages for the first ten spots in the search results. Is it really so hard to understand why your site doesn't show up there in a week, a month, or even a year?
Providing everything is right with the on-page optimization of the website, it still takes much time and effort to build back-links to the site. Too many, too fast and your site may be penalized by the search engines. Most websites at the top of the pecking order have been online for years and have developed a large (or huge) arsenal of backlinks.
Adding twenty or thirty links a week, both reciprocal and one-way is a good amount. Adding high PR backlinks (5 and higher) is much more difficult, unless the client is willing to pay for it.
As time goes on and the site matures, the ever increasing number of backlinks combined with well-written, keyword rich content, combine to push the site up the search engine ladder. Be prepared to wait a couple of years or more to see lasting, high ranking results for a website. In other words, learn to have some patience.
